Diabetes Cookbooks July 10, 2012

I was looking through some diabetic cookbooks at Barnes and Nobles and I was shocked at what was considered a good idea for someone with high blood sugar.  I guess I have some different ideas about what is healthy.  I have been completely avoiding white processed sugar, flours, and snacks.  For some reason, I have been beating myself up for eating fun snacks, like cookies made of nut butters or dates.  But, after looking at these diabetics cookbooks with their white breads and sugar free processed puddings, I am feeling better about myself.  At least I am eating home made all natural plant based products.

  • 2 almond cookies
  • 1/2 bacon, tomato, mayo sandwich on Ezekial bread

  • Tomato soup with cheese
  • 1 piece Ezekial bread with almond butter

  • small smoothie (pineapple, papaya, mango, protein)

2 hours later snack:

  • Lara bar (dates, peanuts, dark chocolate)

1 hour later:

  • 5 crackers with edamame hummus

  • Parmesan Chicken
  • 1 cup wheat pasta with tomato sauce and spinach
  • sweet potato fries

  • Godiva dark chocolate with almonds

1 hour later

  • tortilla chips and salsa
